As someone who has lived right outside of New Orleans my entire life, and been affected by the effects of Katrina, I believe Rivlin truly captured the whole truth about the poor geographical and economic decisions that were made and the blatant racism that began after the storm. All the intimate details from the characters allow the reader to understand and feel from their perspective. Rivlin chose the characters represented a broad spectrum of people and neighborhoods after the storm. This book has inspired a new love for this city and its culture to people of
