Seemingly, the average body temperature usually ranges from 36 degrees to 38 degrees Celsius. The average body temperatures are paramount in enabling the body to have a favorable environment for performing its duties. However, with hypothermia the body temperature significantly decreases thereby impending with the proper functioning of the body. Older patients and neonates and infants are more prone to accidental hypothermia. Patients with certain health conditions such as arthritis, trauma, and intoxication increase the patient risk of becoming hypothermic. It is vital to assert that it is imperative for nurses to have a significant knowledge of hypothermia so as to be able to reduce the risks associated with it in hypothermic patients adequately.
Nursing Framework Little research has been done on the nurses’ knowledge of hypothermia and their capabilities of managing accidental hypothermia in preoperative setting. This study was conducted in the years between 2003 and 2008. Nurses performed it in a perioperative setting. It was therefore held in Ireland et al. Hospital and Evans and Kenkre hospital (Hegarty et al., 2009).

Only volunteers were subjected to the research. Additionally, the volunteers were briefed on the aims and purpose if the study as such is making them aware of the implications of the study they were participating (Hegarty et al., 2009). All the information given out by the volunteers were kept confidential.
Cultural Aspects of the Study Seemingly, the research did not harm any patients or participant in the course of the study. All methods of data collection were valid. Similarly, the members were only included in the answering the survey questions upon their consent.
Sample
The study was done in a perioperative and the general environment. It was based on nurses, healthcare practitioners, and staff members. The sample was divided according to the level of qualification and the work specialties of the nurses.
Procedures
Notably, several methods were used in the collection and evaluation of the results. Descriptive and qualitative design methods were employed. A survey was done in which the participants were required to answer research questions indicated in a questionnaire.
