Gender roles often subjugate women and take away their individuality. Society’s standards towards women present them more like an object, rather than a person with needs and emotions. A women is always expected to give and give and never expect anything in return. Such ideas are often cherished by men but in reality these ideas are very unrealistic. In the satirical piece, I want a wife, Brady explains with sarcasm how unrealistic these ideas are. She explains how a wife takes care of the family, the husband and the children but does not get anything in return and if she speaks up then she is easily replaced.
