Working as a qualified swimming instructor after completing the STA level two certificate in January 2016 has sparked my desire to undertake a career in primary education; seeing the children progress and improve their swimming during their lessons with me has been truly rewarding and has given me the passion and determination to take the skills I have learnt from my experiences into a classroom setting to provide children with the best possible education.
I have learnt that patience is an indispensable skill as not every child responds when an idea is first explained. This has shown me the importance of being able adapt lessons to meet individual needs; whilst continuously maintaining a positive and encouraging attitude. This is essential

Here I worked with children of all years and ability. This built upon my leadership skills as I was able to delegate tasks and motivate my team in order to make the day a success. I have found from this experience that any activity involving children requires immense planning and preparation.
Participating in a mentor programme throughout year eleven was a rewarding experience where I provided extra maths support for younger students. I was able to motivate them with challenging questions whilst being patient and compassionate if they struggled.
This year I am studying an Access to Social Science and Humanities course. This has equipped me for the academic demands of university, developing my skills in vital areas such as academic writing and the Harvard referencing system. This has also given me the opportunity to undertake another fifty-hour dedicated placement at Hollywood Primary School in the coming months where I will further expand my experience.
I would like to acquire qualified teacher status to pursue my career as a teacher. I look forward to starting university and eventually starting work as a newly qualified teacher in a primary
