I Want To Pursue College

Decent Essays
For fall 2017 and subsequent semesters, my parents and I would be paying all of my college expenses. I have been blessed with the opportunity of completing my bachelor’s degree thanks to the donors that have believed in my commitment to my education and career goals. My dad works very hard to help me pay my education, however even adding the money I earn working we wouldn’t be able to pay my full tuition fees. That is why I know that without the help of scholarships, I would not be able to continue my education and be able to take the CPA exam. I would continue to have hope that someone will see my commitment, and help me complete my master’s degree.

My parents are home all throughout the day just waiting for their next client to call, which isn’t very often, but neither parent has stepped up to get a new job so our family could be supported. The housing market has gone extremely downhill in the past ten years, so my mother’s job does not call for much profit. My family has needed food stamps, I get free lunch at school and there has been a time where I did not have health insurance. College is not the first thing my family and I have to worry about. With not enough money to pay for the taxes, the mortgage or even the food, a scholarship such as the one Bruce Fishkin awards could finally take some weight off my shoulders.…

Throughout my high school career, I have acquired a great amount of experience in preparation for many of the aspects of a successful college career. For example, I have developed a deeper understanding of the value of an education and have worked hard to receive money to fund my education. My family has always taught independence; thus, obtaining the funds for my education has been solely my responsibility. I have no other help, except scholarships and financial aid. I feel this scholarship suits me because I am not one to give up until my goals are attained and, currently, my goal is to have little to no student debt when graduating from college.…

Going to school in America is not cheap. Everyday students struggle not only to pay for their collegiate educations, but also to offset these costs as much as they can. One issue many have raised is the fact that colleges and universities are simply too expensive, most families can not afford to pay out of pocket the tens of thousands of dollars a year for an education. The government does attempt to help through FAFSA, giving subsidized and unsubsidized loans geared towards assisting students through their studies and deferring payments until 6 months after graduation. My family and I are extremely thankful that we qualify for these loans and have chosen only to take out what we need and nothing more, this way when the time comes to pay them…

My wife and I prayed about what direction I needed to take to complete this goal.
