In The Blue Angel it was a misfortune to see Rath’s character transform from a proud, well taken care of professor who hopelessly found love and then completely turn into a slump who dies from humiliation and insanity. I think it was a tragedy because the audience hoped for Rath’s and Lola’s unorthodox relationship to work out but that unfortunately ended as well. The film ultimately exemplified death in various forms of symbolism. The obvious tragedy in the Titanic is shown when the audience hopes Ismay will put his greedily decision aside and tell the Captain to slow the ship down. However, it ends in the terrible deaths of 1,500 people sinking in the ship. The aspect of love is shown in both films, Rath and Lola quickly fall in love and get married just as fast in The Blue Angel. In The Titanic, the young girl and young man quickly fall in love and although the girl is engaged she decides she wants to end her soon to be marriage. A seductive dancer entertaining a crowd of people is also seen in both films, the films also involve men fighting over the women which results in an arrest. A small similarity shown in the films include a bird in a cage, in The Blue Angel Lola and Rath both have a bird and there was also one in the Titanic. In the Titanic the plot mostly involves characters living a lavish lifestyle, for example, taking a trip on a new ship, and wearing very stylish clothes, being pampered, and buying stocks. In The Blue Angel the characters are seen as just trying to make a living by performing around the world in clubs, Lola is also seen wearing stylish costumes and fur. The Titanic and The Blue Angel both of course have some form of Nazi propaganda which is also another obvious comparison in the
