Geography is a linking subject; it unites the natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. It is a synthesizing discipline, blending scientific and humanistic perspectives (Hardwick and Holtgrieve, 1996). So that, Geography is considered one of the social studies which contributes significantly to building literacy for the citizens of a global society. It assists in providing students with concepts, values, and necessary skills to prepare them for effective citizenship. Furthermore, geography engenders basic skills such as observation, analysis, comparison, and innovation that assist in forming the student’s personality (Al-Gahtany, 2001, 1).
In the past, geography was known as describing the earth.
