Even with restrictions however, friendship can rule over every obstacle. The morals of friendship can even extend into the world of literature, where characters can go against any prior restriction to help a friend. No matter the circumstances, true friends always support each other, and provide or each other’s needs. The effort Manolin puts in to help Santiago truly shows how genuine a person he is. Although young, he is extremely righteous for he gives his whole self for his friend. His rebellious sense is finally shown for he decides to fish with Santiago again and bring his own luck, instead of just helping him prepare for fishing.
