Income Inequality: It truly does exists
Has anyone ever taken the time to look at the lopsided wealth distribution that exists in our society? The lopsided wealth distribution that exists in our society has been around for many years, and it is referred to as Income Inequality. If people would take the time to notice the gaps in the income that is distributed within the social classes, its effects on the education that is received, the lifestyle, and the overall health of our society they would see and understand that Income Inequality does exist. For instance in the article that was written by Gregory, we are given three differing individuals. Harold S. browning we can assume who is a member of the top one percent due to the occupations earned by his parent's: Harold's lifestyle consisted of great education, housing arrangements, and great experiences. Harold was given the opportunity to travel to Europe, and the Caribbean for his summer vacations. For his graduation gift Harold was also given a BMW. Bob Ferrell a gentleman who was born into the middle class had a great education, and experiences. However, his lifestyle was not as extravagant, and not as privileged as Harold S Browning’s life was. Bob did not get to enjoy family trips to other countries. He spent his summer Sundays at beaches, and often went to the theater for his family activities. Bob was rewarded a 500 family saving bond for his graduation gift. However, both lifestyles were not bad. These two gentleman share their differences. However, even though Bob’s life wasn’t as privileged as Harold’s. They shared some things in common. For an example, they were both able to gain an experience in camp life. Lastly, Cheryl Mitchell who was obviously born into the low class. Cheryl did not experience summer …show more content…
We must start taxing the rich so that our society benefits. Doing so could allow us to put money towards things that really matter. We can improve the overall wellbeing of our society. Also, by offering equal opportunity in education we can give many the opportunities to any individual in middle, and lower classes. I believe that this will allow those who are not so fortunate in social class, and income gain the opportunity to attain better jobs.
In conclusion many do not look at the effects of income inequality. But I would say that it is best to be aware of those effects. I feel as though income inequality is the reason as to why our many problems exist. When writing this document, I would say that in order for us to fix any of the given issues, we must first fix our problem with income inequality. However, income inequality starts with the people in our
