Due to the lack of positive guidance throughout Elsa’ quest, helping the Nazis manipulate and sabotage Indiana Jones, she is taught to believe that the search for the Holy Grail is for the achievement of power. When Indiana Jones and museum curator, Marcus Brody, arrive in Italy, in search of Indiana’s father, Elsa manipulates him for the diary that illustrates where the Holy Grail is located. With this intention to manipulate Indiana in order to help the Nazi pursue of power, it is fair to say that the god-teacher role that Hitler is for Elsa teaches her to be immoral for a misguided sense of the greater good. The effect that Elsa experiences from Hitler’s lack of moral teachings clearly has a negative influence that leads her to death even after watching the death of her accomplice Walter Donovan. In order for Elsa to feel the sense of accomplishment, she believes the Holy Grail must be in her hands. The film leaves Elsa manipulating Donovan by purposely giving him the wrong chalice, then, in her greed, ignores the knight’s warning and steps over the seal, causing the cave to begin collapsing. Elsa had developed as a character that ultimately manipulates others for her wellbeing as seen being the root of Donovan’s death.
