When people think about the institute of education, most people think of academics, but there is another factor that influences the lives of students and the education system as a whole. Sports play a big role in many schools across America. Whether you’re a high school athlete, college athlete, or someone who doesn’t even play sports, the impact sports have on the education institutes is shown through different social and even financial aspects. Sports and these institutes go hand in hand, with almost every high school and college offering some sort of sports team. College sports can bring in quite a bit of revenue, making it to some, a priority above other important necessities and programs in education. Compared to the importance of academics, sports just aren’t that important, but schools place it on top of the list of priorities because it’s a fast, easy way to get money. The idea of a hierarchy in schools can be related to the concept of a bureaucracy. The top schools whether it be academics or sports are the most efficient, putting them above ones who might be seen as less efficient. Education is very important to people because it gives them an opportunity to learn and potentially make an impact with whatever future job they might get involved with. Sports, although not as important to society as a whole, impact the lives of the players and fans who choose to take their personal time and money to be involved with these activities. Sports create a special place for these communities to come together and experience a fun, unifying
