Mr I is suffering from seasonal influenza as he shows symptoms including sneezing, headache, muscle ache, malaise, dry, chesty cough, fever, fatigue and weakness because he can hardly sit up. These are all the symptoms of seasonal influenza (NICE, 2015). Although symptoms of colds and influenza are very similar, but his symptoms developed within two days which is relatively fast, proving that he suffers from influenza instead of cold. As symptoms of influenza develop a lot faster than cold. (NHS, 2014) Also, symptoms of influenza are more extreme while the symptoms of colds are milder and less severe. (CDC, 2016) Although he received the immunisation of seasonal influenza a month ago, however, there is no evidence showing that people who received the vaccination are well protected from influenza. She is on a third day of a seven-day course of antibiotic, therefore there is a great possibility of clostridium difficile infection. Especially when she has a few risk factors of clostridium difficile infection including age 65years old and above, on Co-amoxiclav antibiotic treatment and recently hospitalised. These factors increased the chances that she suffered from the infection. (NICE, 2013) Ms CD’s faecal sample was sent for investigation and result shows the presence of infection. Clostridium difficile infection can only be confirmed by laboratory testing as there is no specific clinical symptoms for the infection and the symptoms are generally very similar to other disease states. The Department of Health recommend the use of a two stage test including: A GDH EIA to test the screen sample, followed by a sensitive toxin EIA test. The second test is not necessary if the result from the first test is negative. These tests can confirm the presence of toxic or not. (NICE,
