Informative Speech: Types Of Photography

Decent Essays
he purpose of my speech is to inform the audience about the types of photography. Included in my speech are facts about the camera and photography and some of which give background or help to explain what I’m saying. I do give a short exposition on the first usage of the camera and how modern photography isn’t far off. With these facts, I have also included testimony to back them up and establish credibility. I tried to make the speech familiar by choosing the top 4 most popular types of photography, so there’s a good chance that some- if not most people have done at least one of the 4. Also my use of audiovisuals via power point should help the audience stay interested.
I have my speech structured in chronological order. This allows

After presenting and completing my visual informative speech, there were several strengths and weaknesses present throughout my speech. Some of my strengths, with respect to the content of the speech as I did my visual presentation, was that I did a good job with the introduction. The introduction involved introducing my topic and grabbing the attention of my audience. Also, I had great supporting materials and most importantly great organization of my main points. As for the delivery aspect of my speech, according to the video, I had a good posture and used my flash cards very well, which were very helpful in delivering my speech.…

I have never had trouble talking in front of large groups or presenting, in fact speeches are always projects I look forward to in class. However, I still believe I could work on being more effective when delivering my speach. The two main problems I have seen wish my speaking is first, I always start talking too fast which makes it hard for the audience to understand me. Second, in school sometimes we are forced to give a presentation about a topic we are not always personally enthusiastic about. I need to improve my level of enthusiasm even when I am not interested in the topic because it effects the ability for me to convey my points to my…

After watching my speech on video I recognized several things that beforehand I believed I had done well, and upon watching the speech, did do very well. Firstly was my organization, but mainly my introduction and main points. Both of these had all aspects covered and were easy to notice during the speech. Secondly I thought I did very well with my volume, rate, and vocal variety. These verbal delivery attributes came off very well in my speech and I was very happy to see that I could still execute these aspects.…

Course Reflection 1. After taking the course Speech 301 during spring semester of 2017, I have learned that before any speech is presented it first needs to go through a process of constructing it, which takes time and effort. But that’s not all, it takes research, creativity, and practice to prepare and deliver a good speech. You need to get the audience attention before even telling then what your speech is about. After you start delivering the speech it is also important to keep the audiences attention throughout the whole speech such as, keep them interested, entertained, or in a suspense.…

Starting off, I had a really fun experience preparing for and constructing my Informative speech. The format of the speech is great because it lets the students select a topic that they are interested in and allows them to talk about a topic they are passionate about. I choose the topic of Landsmeer Golf Club because it was interesting for me to gain even more knowledge on a topic that I was familiar with. When preparing for my speech, I started off making a rough draft outline, and also making a bibliography. After that was complete, I started to practice and rehearse my speech in front of the mirror.…

Like with anything, it's important to look at the negatives and figure out how to fix them, it's also important to look at the positives and figure out how to retain them. I have three goals for my next presentation and I have figured out how to achieve those goals. My first goal is to maintain good eye contact with my audience and I can do this by being more comfortable with what I need to say. In order to be more comfortable I will need to review and practice what I want to say more often. Another goal is to continue my strength of good organization.…

One strength of our speech was we were able to convey the information vividly. I took some of the suggestions about using figurative language and painting a picture for the audience when I mentioned a movie example. A difficulty we had since the speech was a technical topic was trying to incorporate a relevant entertaining part to the speech but we had several examples to keep the audience interested incorporated in the story as we thought about the audience age group and the pop culture references they would understand. Although our speech was comprehensible and had a very strong visual aid aspect to it we missed out on some of the points that Eleanor Longden a Ted talk speaker who gave a similar speech on Schizophrenia excelled on. Her ability to give extemporaneous speech was far above ours, while we used note cards she was able to talk to her audience without anything to refer back to.…

Do you ever think about how America could be a better place? There is hate and segregation of races all over America still. People stereotyped and judged, because of the way they are and their beliefs. My vision for this great nation is we can have peace, starting with feeling comfortable with everybody, not thinking people feel a certain way about a certain race, and stopping the hate. How could as the people change this overwhelming problem?…

Practice makes perfect as everyone has heard this saying before. In the future, I plan on practicing my speeches more by speaking in front of a mirror over and over again to give myself the impression of what I look like when speaking in front of a group of people. Practicing in front of a mirror over and over again will also help me memorize my speech more instead of relying on my note card as often, giving me more confidence while speaking. I tend to use my note card as a comforting thing when I get nervous and forget what I am about to say. It gives me the chance to collect my thoughts and remember what I was going to say as well as staying on track of where I was going in my speech.…

Many fail to realize that communication is verbal and nonverbal. It does not take an act of Congress for the presenter to realize that he or she no longer has the attention of the audience. According to organizational psychologist Judith Tingley, “Prevention is easier than cure. Once your audience begins losing interest, it is almost impossible for even accomplished speakers to recapture it.” (Tingley, 2000).…
