Is Cheating Wrong

Cheating on in-class tests is more wrong than other common types of academic dishonesty. A plagiarist may get high score by simply write everything down on an illegal cheat sheet, but it doesn’t reflect his or her actual ability. Moreover, it is unfair to other students who make lots of effort to earn the best grade (Kennesaw State University, 2011). Secondly, almost every professor will make it clear that they have zero tolerance with cheating. Cheaters know the rule but still violate it. Their action indicates that they despise school policies and are disrespectful to their professors. There is another type of cheating called unintentional cheating. It sometimes happens when students are using sources but neglect to cite them properly (Kennesaw State University, 2011). First of all, professors should lead students to study in an efficient way. For example, professors can divide students into several study groups, and let them discuss homework problems together but have to finish the assignment independently. Additionally, professors may give students chances to acquire points that they lost in exam by demonstrating problems during office hours. This may keep students who are fear to have bad grades from cheating. Furthermore, professors should let students know more about cheating. A small group of students may cheat without realizing it. For instance, students are sometimes confused about whether calculators are allowed in certain courses.
