I agree that most of these conflicts were caused by so many other reasons, for example the crusades also known as the holy wars which lasted from the 11th century to the 13th century is a war in which may would claim and argue was caused mainly due to religion. How ever yes religion was a factor in the crusades and they are called the holy wars, But when you pull apart the pieces to this war, you could argue that the crusades was caused by due to the massacre of 3000 Christians for territory control, when it just happened to be that Jerusalem held holy significance to Christianity at the time. Thus sparking the crusades, I would like to think that any territory that is invaded and people are killed whether it holding a holy significance or not the people would still retaliate and seek revenge. The people fighting just happened to be Christian and Muslim which cause many misconceptions to be thrown out, and instead of looking at all other causes of why this war happened such as 3000 humans being slaughter which sparked anger and hatred towards this group of people, instead of simply saying it was linked directly to …show more content…
For example, such as the conflict occurring in Iraq and Afghanistan have major religious reasons for the conflicts going on, or even the major events such as the holocaust which dated back during World War 2 where Hitler was responsible for the massacre of nearly six million Jews. But then again, most people that believe these religions do not follow the practice that these evil individuals followed, because stated above, most of all these religions believe in peace, love and non-violence and war only as a last resort. The article also states a very interesting claim(Pg 4) that only 7% of wars throughout history were religious wars. But as it is stated in the context religious wars or those 7% wars were caused only because of religion, which goes on to support the fact that probably more then 7 % of wars yes caused by other main issues such as power control, territory expansion or trade route capture and so on.
