These citizens’ lives are often strained by debt and the weight of daily living expenses. They have very few financial benefits and live paycheck to paycheck. Nevertheless, there are ways to overcome these setbacks despite living in poverty. Benjamin Franklin once said, “A fool and his money are soon parted”. If someone is not educated, it is extremely hard to understand the best ways to manage money. However, by prioritizing education, people are able to better understand how to save and spend their money. In America, under the Bill of Rights, it is every citizen’s right to receive a free education from kindergarten through the twelfth grade. By focusing and working hard in school, many young adults, rich and poor, become eligible for scholarships that help further their education and in turn give them a higher earning potential in the future. Some families may also choose to have both parents be active members of the work force in order to increase their income. People of Middle Eastern descent are often falsely stereotyped as terrorists. Recent events in America have highlighted the continued existence of police violence and racial profiling against African Americans. Many people who belong to minority ethnic groups struggle to get ahead and feel held back from success, but they can still have a voice. Colin Kaepernick, an African American football player for the San Francisco 49ers, has a successful football career proving that despite race, a fuller, successful future is possible. Recently, Kaepernick has chosen to take a different approach to bringing attention to racism by choosing to sit during the National Anthem. The only way we can bring about change and work toward equality, is by following Kaepernick’s example and continuing to bring attention to the issues that are affecting our society. By recognizing that although not impossible, it is significantly more difficult for minority groups to achieve a full life, we help pave the path of future success for these groups of
