In chapter four nonverbal communication, and the negative effects of certain gestures can change the way a customer and an employee interact are discussed. Most often when I am at work, walking a client around the grocery store, I see many people on cell phones, whether they are talking, texting or looking at grocery list apps on the phone, the people no longer have undivided attention on the task at hand. Imagine a person, waiting for the busy deli assistants, flip out their cellphone, and starts playing apps, or looking over something on the screen. As the line moves forward, all the person can see around their cell phone screen, is an open space of floor, so they step forward, and with our realizing they were facing the wrong direction, turn into a deli display. The person has knocked over the display, interrupting the pace of the line and the job of the deli assistant who now has to clean it
