John Greenleaf Whittier has had experience in the writing poems. My Ebsco source is about Whittier’s life. He was born in 1807 and passed away in 1892. Maskal’s “John Greenleaf Whittier and the Washington Territory” states, “Despite the immense popularity of Snowbound (1866), one influential critic of the 1880s judged Whittier a poet only of New England rather than of national stature” (Moskal). The two poems mentioned above also have the couplet rhyme scheme like Don’t Quit. One might assume he was a fan of or enjoyed couplet poetry. The two poems are also very inspirational and easy to read.
