Based on Ms. Santana’s observation, he’s an active child who often gets himself into trouble. Upon entering the classroom in the morning, Ms. Steinberger has to encourage Joshua to greet his friends as well as display good eye contact. she would walk him to the closet and assist Joshua with hanging up his coat. Joshua displays placing his coat on the hanger. Next, Joshua would comfortable walks to the sink to wash his hands. At this time, Joshua would display an attitude and fight with Ms. Steinberger as she turns the water. Immediately, Joshua storms over to the play area and begins pelting objects in the teacher’s direction. Ms. Steinberger dashes behind him because apparently this is the behavior that Joshua demonstrates every morning. …show more content…
There were several times where I found Joshua wondering around the classroom. His ability to focus is very minimal. Joshua would walk over to the fire station area or the sink to play with the water. Ms. Steinberger has to call him multiple times before Joshua would acknowledge her. She would express to Joshua the consequences he would receive if he did not sit back down. Joey’s disruptive behavior is motivated by a need for adult attention that manifests in the form of talking out of turn, loudly and off topic. The antecedents include: interrupting when the teacher gives attention to his classmates, talking louder if he feels he is being ignored, and off topic outbursts when he is disengaged or bored.
