IN 20TH century, people had less options for accessing the news. Daily news came in the form of newspapers or TV news programs, and the less urgent stories were found only in the magazines or weekly newspapers.
But in today;s era, people have instant 24/7 access to any type of news in any type of format. Its all because of the internet. The ways in which people consume the news have changed. The style and the principles have remained largely unchanged.

Journalists write articles that have wide appeal and can be easily understood. One of the obvious characteristics is short sentences and paragraphs, which are made to make people understand easily.
In most cases, journalistic writing is objective, that means it relies on evidence and facts and figures. It doesnot rely on opinions or emotional appeals. Journalistic ethics are set on a very high standard for objectivity and fact-checking. Journalists are expected to provide its readers with accurate information on an event as it occured, which should include different conflicting opinions on the subject. Moreover, a strong news article presents the facts of the story, and should also include charts or graphs. It should also take the time to explain the numbers so the reader understands the material properly.
Many news outlets also offer opinions and arguments in a specific format known as an editorial column or section. Social issues are the main focus of these columns, like gun education. Mostly , the ideal number of sources depends on the particular type of article, ranging from 3-5 people. If the article is a spotlight on a specific person, it would be good to get a long interview with that person and then shorter interviews with others involved. Always record the interview. Taking notes is not the best idea, especially if you will be directly quoting someone (people simply talk too fast and too long for you to jot down everything they’re saying).
