Jouzi's Argument Analysis: Celebrity Advertising

Jouzi in her excerpt claims that celebrity advertising is misleading and that there should be rules and guidelines for advertisers. The author supports her claim by first asserting celebrity advertising insults the intelligence of the audience. She continues by saying the buyers should boycott this kind of advertisement and legislate rules. The authors purpose is to inform the audience that celebrity advertisement is misleading so that they do not get tricked into buying products celebrities promote. The author establishes an authoritative tone for all buyers. Jouzui’s argument is invalid because the consumer is not forced to purchase the product and should be smart enough to not be persuaded by a celebrity.

For example, Selena Gomez advertises a commercial for Pantene. She claims that the shampoo makes her hair unbreakable. Just because she states it make her hair stronger, does not mean the buyer is forced to purchase the product. The consumer also should be smart enough to not be persuaded by a celebrity. Some people believe that buying Micheal Jordans shoes will make them jump higher while wearing them. Customers should have enough intelligence to know that celebrities these days participate in advertisements to get paid. Also, companies use celebrities to bring more profit to their company. In the end buyers should be smart enough to not be persuaded by celebrity advertisement.
Buyers are not forced to purchase a product and should be smart enough to not let a celebrity persuade them into buying a product they are advertising. Consumers should do research before buying a product and not let a celebrity fool them into thinking they actually use the product they are
