The year is finally here. Everyone said this is one of the worst years of high school. I have to start studying for my SATs, start thinking about where I was going to pursue my education, and most importantly, what I wanted to do in life. I heard all the abhorrence stories about junior year. For example, people exclaimed the stress will eat you alive. Hearing all of those stories made me apprehensive about junior year. However, I tried to shake that thought out of my head because it was nonsense. This year was my first year to take all honors classes. My teachers and the guidance department had confidence that I was eligible to be participating in honors classes, because of being in honor roll every year and having a 3.93 GPA. I signed up to be in a new class that was introduced to my school. That class was Algebra II/Pre-Calculus honors. Algebra II/ Pre-Calculus honors was a fast paced class where you are learning two subjects at one time. On top of taking honors classes, I also got accepted as a cashier at ShopRite in Middletown, New Jersey. I just contemplated and prayed that junior year was not as horrific as everyone said it was. …show more content…
However, as the year progressed, I started to become stressed. My boss at work, made me work five days a week for four and half hours a day. Each day, I would start around three o'clock and not get home until eight or nine o'clock. Having to worry about my honors classes and having to study for the SATs, I started becoming frazzled. I am renowned for being a procrastinator. I seem to wait last minute to complete daily assignments that are presented to me. There would be times where I would come home late at night and have to study for mutiple tests. My mother would come up with the solution for me to miss a day of school in order to study. I knew that I could not skip school every time I had an upcoming test or

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. Perhaps they consider that the freshman year was not as consummate as they initially planned. I cannot judge my first year in college was successful or frustrating, but I feel I benefited from the meritorious experiences and practical knowledge gained from my college life. In my opinion, no matter what goals one wishes to achieve in college, whether its grade, love, health, or sense of accomplishment, one has to be prepared for both failures and…

For junior year, I had chosen a much more difficult course load – all my classes were weighted except for two semester classes and a full year class. I created a science fair project, which took the majority of the year, and then competed in three science fairs. I created my own career exploration project and made a 45 minute presentation of it. I was still involved at my dance studio, three nights a week for at least four hours, sometimes more, as well as still being part of Warriorettes. I also got a part time job over the summer that I worked after school on my days I didn’t have dance and on…

Category #1, graduate high school: The objective is fairly simple, pass all classes and then a high schooler receives his or her diploma. The way that society works within high schools is much different than the objective. The specific process that administrators require students to do in high school are much more than of what many high schoolers can handle. Administrators require unnecessary information for students to learn which causes stress, headaches, and sleepless nights. The side effects of all of the unnecessary knowledge results in health complications.…

Freshman year was an overwhelming for me, and I needed to instantly adapt to a new, challenging curriculum. It was a whole new environment because I just came out of a private Catholic middle school where I did not really have to think of deciding for myself, and into one of California's prestigious public schools. I felt unprepared, and everyone knew each other before entering high school. None of my friends bothered to apply to University High School, and I was a fish out of water. However, I knew that freshman year needed to become a time where I needed to change because high school was a time for a fresh start.…

While some parents view after school programs as a place to send their child as an alternative to daycare or a babysitter, it is important to realize that after school programs are far more than just a place to send your children at the end of the school day. According to information from the Afterschool Alliance, a program dedicated to expanding after school programs in the United States, 178,554 students in Arizona participate in after school programs. While that is only about 16 percent of Arizona's K-12 students, 97 percent of those parents are satisfied with their child's after school program. Plus, 34 percent of Arizona children not enrolled in after school programs would participate in them if they were available in their area.…
