Gliese-581g
The planet Gliese 581g is one of six possible planets in the constellation Libra. This exoplanet was discovered in late September 2010. The main reason for such attraction of this planet is the fact that it is in the middle of said habitable zone. Another reason of interest is the mere 20 light-years of distance from earth. This makes Gliese a relatively close planet from home. Its composition is not fully known yet but experts suggest that Gliese might sustain liquid water on its surface and …show more content…
Scientist claim that Gilese 667 Cc's characteristics are most similar to Earth than any other planet. It was first discovered in 2011 by European Southern Observatory's High Accuracy Radial Velocity Planet Searcher by utilizing the radial velocity method. Just like Kepler-22b, it is an exoplanet. It orbits in the habitable zone around a star similar to the sun. This star is called Gilese 667 C. Gilese 667 C is part of the Gilese 667 triple star system. Other stars like Gilese 667 A and Gilese 667 B are located in this system. Gilese 667 C is considered to be the smallest star in the system. It's luminosity is about 1.4% of the sun's which makes Gilese 667 Cc receive 90% of light Earth does. It is also 42% smaller than the sun. This star is located in the Scorpio constellation. Gilese 667 Cc is located 23.62 light years away from Earth, which makes it closer than
