Why is King Charles I the best absolute monarch of all time? Let me explain. King Charles I was born on November 19, 1600 and was the second son of King James VI and Anne of Denmark. His older brother Henry died in 1612 which left Charles as the heir of the English kingdom. He became king in 1625, and three months after he married Henrietta Maria of France, they had five children together and had a happy relationship. Charles would soon gain power over the nobility after becoming allies with George Villiers, the Duke of Buckingham, before George was assassinated in 1628.
