The king cobra is one of the most well known snakes because of it's iconic hood it flares out when threatened. As the biggest venomous snake in the world it can raise one-third of it's body up and stare a grown man in the eyes. The king cobra gets it name because it preys on other venomous and non-venomous snakes (see example A) Although the snake would much rather retreat, if threatened it will raise up and flare it's hood up to make it look bigger than it really is (see example B). If this doesn't scare the attacker off, then the king cobra will become highly aggressive and attack. The king cobra lives in India, southern China, and Southeast Asia.
