The book, Knowing God, written by J.I. Packer applies to both the most devout Christians and nonbelievers. The book is broken down into three sections Know The Lord, Behold Your God, and If God Be For Us. Packer poses the question; do you honestly know the true Lord? Packer shows us throughout his book how we should know the Lord and why we should strive for a relationship with the Lord. Packer makes the profound statement that many Christians of today do not have a true relationship with the Lord. If everyone seeks out the Lord he will present Himself to you. When the Lord comes into your life and you surrender to Him there is no better feeling in the world. To know that your eternal destiny is secure and you will have a place to go after your earthly life ends is amazing. You will get to know the Lord and you will see him in everything on the earth. The Lord created everything you see and said that everything was good. If you look deeply at anything you come into contact with whether that is an ant, a tree, a leaf, a frog, a rabbit, or anything else in creation you cannot doubt that it was created by the hands of the Lord. This should strengthen your relationship with Him. Everyone takes the little things for granted in life and overlooks how the Lord is involved. The Lord wants a personal caring relationship with everyone on earth; He wants all of us to live with him in eternity. He strives for us to be “loved and cared by him” …show more content…
By striving for this he is very thorough in his book and makes his points very clear. Packer uses the word of God to back up his points and covers ever topic that can possibly be used to argue against him. Seeing Packers view in his book is comforting and has encouraged me. Knowing that there are people out there with his view and with his ambition to go out and bring these issues into light. I feel like if people read Packers book and actually took to heart what he says there would be a change in them. Packer shows extreme dedication to the Lord and shows that he is a devout Christian throughout his book Knowing God. If more Christians lived as strongly for the Lord and were not scared to show their faith the world would be a much better place. How can you read his book and not be changed? There is no doubt that life will end and the reckoning will come. When this happens though will you know the Lord? Will you join Him for eternal life in
