Macbeth quotes, “I will not yield, to kiss the ground before young Malcolm’s feet, and to be baited with the rabble’s curse. In this quote, Macbeth knows that Malcolm is close to taking the future throne of Scotland and Macbeth will not stop until he claims it, even if Macduff wants to kill him. Macbeth also quoted, “I’ll fight, till from my bones my flesh be hacked. Give me my armor. “Macbeth is saying that he will not give in so easily and that he would fight till the end. Lady Macbeth quotes,” Come, you spirit that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full of direst cruelty! Make thick my blood!” Lady Macbeth said this quote after King Duncan arrived at their castle, because she knows if she takes control and help Macbeth kill King Duncan that he would have a possibility of taking the throne of Scotland and becoming king.
So in conclusion, ambition is the theme of the actions that these characters, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, has shown throughout the story. Macbeth taking the chance of killing King Duncan to become King of Scotland, and Lady Macbeth motivating her husband into carrying out his plan to become the King of Scotland are all reminders of how their actions have shown ambition in the story. This reflects on the reader that one can also have good ambition
