Last Straw Game Analysis

The Last Straw game really represent the system difference in term of wealth class. Though the biggest factor that is neglected from this game is the ability to make choice. This game demonstrated how the system affects lower class more than higher class. In term of “Juan”, my group character is a lower class below the poverty line. He is a person of color and start at the very bottom. After two rounds he barely made it out of childhood. Once he hits adolescence he started smoking, low activeness, poor nutrition and sexuality is gay. Many of our health care lack the support of gay. However, in this game middle class can fall below poverty also. So, this bring in awareness that middle class are also vulnerable. Other instance or gender role. How one’s gender can affect their movement on class. One specific one that we went over is how women are more affected by negative changes than men such example as “teen pregnancy.”
Those bias that I had previously regarding middle class not affect by the system can impact middle class by one ways. It positions middle class patients at a disadvantage at my pharmacy in not able to get the patient care. Middle class are still susceptible to falling under the poverty line also. If not corrected, middle class will be the class to suffer the most.
What I learned from the Last Straw game will shape my practice as a pharmacist. Perhaps it will help me understand the need for patients who are under the poverty line. Those are the most vulnerable and will not be able to afford insurance and pay for their copays. It will encourage me to explore alternative programs that will work along with my future pharmacy so the need of care can be
