It is crucial that women have the option to get an abortion legally. Some are passionately against abortion for a multitude of reasons. An anonymous responder of a survey conducted on Zoho says, “In my opinion, the person who aborts a child is a criminal. No one has the right to kill another human being. Life is a gift from God. He is the only one who decides when it’s time to go.” (Campos-Pereira) Religious people have interpreted bible verses as against abortion and will remain callous and assertive to support their beliefs. Nonetheless, one must remember the separation of church and state. When our country was established, it was decided that religion could not determine law, yet there is still a strong religious bias that affects law-making. Whether it be in the workfield, at home, or regarding healthcare, society hasn't reached the point of equality that is necessary for societal equilibrium. In an interview conducted with mother of four, Cindy Pereira, she says, “A woman having control over her own reproductive system obviously brings her closer to being equal to men”.
