Leilani's Recall: A Case Study

Following the completion of the treatment, I will place Lelani on a 6 month recall. It is recommended by Koch & Poulsen (2009) recall should not exceed 12 months, however, the ultimate judgment should be carefully crafted with the unique dental needs of the patient being the main determinant. As Leilani is high risk, I will place her on a 6 month recall. I have selected this recall as after 6 months, I will need to reassess, with bitewings, the progression of carious activity of the teeth restored using the stepwise technique. Additionally, as Leilani is five years old, I expect her first permanent molars to erupt sometime in the next 2 years. By placing Leilani on a 6 month recall, it allows me to monitor this eruption.
