Let’s start with my being a single mom! I have an incredibly intelligent and beautiful seven year old that looks up to her mom. I cannot think of anything more incredible than to finish my degree, at this point in my life, and be an example that at any age you can do whatever you set your mind to. Second, through life’s journeys, I have always been embarrassed and disappointed in myself for not finishing my degree. Not having my degree, I feel, has kept me from getting ahead in my career, and or, job opportunities. I know I have incredible …show more content…
Searching for jobs online through our portal at work, really made me realize I am holding myself back from moving to the next level for my career, weather I stay with the university or move on to something else. My mind knows I can, but I just cannot show it on paper. To say I accomplished this goal with Colorado Christian University would be an honor and the thought of seeing my degree on the wall is such a dream I am ready to call a reality! Looking back and moving forward, as lost as we seem during the toughest of times realizing we do not know the next chapter of our life, but God does, REALLY makes us put our trust in Him. As alone as I have felt during this time, I would not have traded it for the world. God knows when we need to be pulled back a little and our faith and trust in Him needs a little maturing and this has definitely been my maturing period! I have never seen God so much in my life and given me so many signs He is here than the past few weeks, especially my conversations with Abe and getting me started at Colorado Christian University, thank

Life-changing experiences, or turning points, often cause difficulty to the person who is facing them. This thought is explored in the text,” The Father of Chinese Aviation,” by Rebecca Maksel, the autobiography Warriors Don’t Cry written by Melba Pattillo Beals, and the narrative I Never Had it Made by Jackie Robinson. Feng Ru, The first Chinese Aviator, Melba Pattillo Beals, one of the first black children to go to a white school, and Jackie Robinson, the first black MLB player, have all faced life-changing experiences and, in doing so, have affected their own countries gravely. Jackie Robinson was the first, of his race, to play in major league baseball. Jackie was asked to join a major league team, the Brooklyn Dodgers, and, even though…

The success of graduating high school in the next few months, making an effort in attending college, applying for this once in a lifetime GMS scholarship, and also the success of believing in myself when I feel like I’m a failure. No matter how many times I said, “I don’t think I’m going to pass or I can’t do this”, I always knew I could turn to God. Believing in him has allowed me to be able to pray and know that God’s the only one who can give me the wisdom and strength.…

My own experience as a five-year-old second-degree burn victim in the Glenwood Springs, Colorado small community hospital’s emergency room never evaporates from my adult decision-making. “You will hurt” was the message my seven-year-old sister relayed to me in our native Spanish language as the staff arduously worked to clean and debride my thigh. No translators were available, and my family circled in shared fear as well as linguistic isolation. Immigrant families who live in camper shells are certainly more at risk for childhood injuries, yet observing the compassionate and diligent efforts of trained medical professionals reacting to my accident sparked my current goal of becoming a Physician Assistant despite the financial and cultural…
