Light for the World is a non-profit international disability and development organization that strives to aid people who have an impediment or disability. They treat disabilities and empower individuals to become active member in society. Light of the World specializes in inclusive education, eye health, prevention of blindness, and community based rehabilitation; through these four concentrations, they aspire to change the world. They are currently engaged with multiple local, national, and international organizations that share the same goal. Among their many partners, Light for the World works in conjunction with Sightsavers and Christian Blind Mission, two non-profits that specialize in fighting disabilities like blindness, cataracts, …show more content…
Unfortunately, most of Ethiopia’s population do not leave within walking distance of an eye care provider nor can afford professional medical assistance. In fact, after interviewing a current Ethiopian citizen, Salomon, we find out that most of eye problems go unseen and are never considered as priorities by the people. Nonetheless, Light of the World is currently pursuing 27 new projects in Ethiopia, among the 27, there are 9 ongoing projects in nine different regions of Ethiopia : Arba Minch, Batu/Zewaye, Butajira, Debark, Dembidollo, Mekelle, Nekemte, Wolayta Soddo, and Yirga Alem. Although, we were unable to receive any feedback from the coordination office in Ethiopia, we were able to locate the contact information of Mr. Nemera Woyessa, the country representative for who we hope to hear in the
