As a wise man once said “Strength lies in differences, not in similarities”. Scrooge in The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickison, is an old miser that is wealthy who didn’t care about others until three Christmas ghosts visited him and taught him a lesson about caring for others. George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life by Frank Capra, is a spirited adult who always lived his life helping others until something tragic happens and he gets visited by an angel. Scrooge and Bailey have similarities that are distinguishable , but they do have different lives, first of all there is a actions difference, different types of relationships , and also what makes them different is the angel and the three ghosts. A gross amount, might be fooled that they are similar, but it is quite the opposite, they have more differences than people might think they do.…
In Charles Dickens’, A christmas Carol I speculate all three spirits assisted Scrooge from his callous behaviour, and shifted his life around to make him a content man. Scrooge learns the same lesson from all three spirit (That kindness is the key to happiness) however, each spirit tells scrooge happiness in different ways. In the beginning of the novella, Scrooge is portrayed as a cold-hearted miser who abhors anything joyful , but once visited by the spirits scrooge is depicted as a warm-hearted man and is loved by everyone. The first spirit that comes to see scrooge is christmas past who comes in the form of a candle. He took Scrooge by the hand, then he takes him to when he was a little boy and other past christmas scenes, Scrooge begins…
"(4)He was also extraordinarily cruel to Cratchit, Scrooge wouldn't even allow Cratchit to put more coal in his fire. Scrooge then was taken by the ghost of Christmas present to Cratchit's home where he saw Cratchit and his family making the best out of Christmas even though Cratchit has a low salary and his son, Tiny Tim, has a disability. He was also toasted by Cratchit which touched Scrooge. Scrooge was also taken by the ghost of Christmas present to see his younger sister who loved him and took him home from school over Christmas. Scrooge was reminded she had his Fred and he should be kinder to him.…
In the beginning of the movie A Christmas Carol you have Mr. Scrooge and Mr. Cratchit in the building that they worked in. Mr. Scrooge is sitting at his desk. This is when a Mr. Scrooge’s nephew comes in who looks rather rich and high strung comes in and interrupts Mr. Scrooge talking about Christmas and invites him over. Mr. Scrooge implies with a no and when his nephew keeps talking merrily and saying things Mr. Scrooge bellows at him “Bah Humbug.” When he gets to his house he sees Marley’s face where the doorknob is supposed to be.…
Marley tells Scrooge that he will be visited by three spirits, one on each of the next three evenings, and that he must listen to these ghosts or he will be cursed. The first ghost takes Scrooge to visit the Christmases that are past. These visions remind Scrooge of the feelings and events of his boyhood. This stirs the gentler side of Scrooge, now deeply hidden within, and reminds him of his once youthful love for a young woman, and the happiness she now shares with…
The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens suggests that true redemption is seized when you accept future consequences of your past mistakes. This novel follows an avaricious man named Ebenezer Scrooge and his route to redemption. Charles Dickens used a lot of illustrations to describe many things surrounding Scrooge. He incorporated images like family, joy and parts of the Christian religion. As you will read in my essay, Scrooges journey to redemption was a rather bumpy than smooth; it was one that nearly ended at death.…
He shows Scrooge his nephew and fiancé together and tells him they may not be able to afford a wedding. Afterwards, the spirit took him to see the Cratchit family and how happy they are with so little. Scrooge discovers that Bob’s youngest son, Tiny Tim, has a serious illness and will not be able to survive because Bob cannot afford the proper medical care with the wages Scrooge had been giving him. Finally, the Ghost of Christmas yet to Come arrives and shows him the future if Scrooge does not change his ruthless ways.…
Adjacent to this scene was a scene of his nephew, Fred, a group of his close friends were at his dwelling, discussing about, Scrooge. Fred kept describing him as a dreadful old man who had not a single good cause for his money, and you would be scared if you saw him at night. But after describing him as a penny-pinching, run-down old man, he stated that Scrooge was his only family and he would drink to his health no matter what. Scrooge felt regretful of being so rude, and felt remorse for not taking care of his one and only nephew. After viewing that scene, the spirit moved on to show Scrooge,Ratchet’s family Christmas-eve dinner, where Ratchet praised Scrooge as a benefactor of his family and drank to his health.…
We begin this story in a relatively similar manner, going on as well. Jacob Marley appears to Scrooge and gives news of three spirit’s Past, Present, and Future’s arrival. Scrooge doesn’t believe that any of this is real, but soon finds himself waiting for the first spirit. PASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPASTPast When Present finaly does come he is found in the very same way. Present then takes Scrooge to the Cratchit’s home, his assistant's, for Christmas dinner and he is informed of the same fate for Tiny Tim.…

Everyone laughed at him because a weirdo like him liked her. Therefore, he hates Christmas, and he blames the Whos. Now, he lives in misery because he is despised and disliked by the Whos and was never treated fairly. In A Christmas Carol, when the Ghost of Past takes Scrooge on a tour of his childhood memories. He quickly starts crying when he remembers himself as a neglected boy who no one cared about. During the Christmas season, while the other children went home to be with family, young Ebenezer was left on his own at…
The thick feeling of confusion stirred together with overwhelming anxiety and finally topped off with a sprinkle of fear all contribute to test whether one is able to withstand the spice of life strived in adolescence. To Every Thing There Is a Season, by Alistair MacLeod, is a coming-of-age story “seen through the eyes of an eleven-year-old boy, who as an adult remembers the way things were back home on the farm on the west coast of Cape Breton” during the Christmas of 1977. Along the lines of the story, the protagonist awakens to a bigger picture of life outside his own small world as he steps his way up from ignorance to knowledge, idealism to realism, and thinking of self to thinking of others. The narrator comes to see himself as a precious…
He is taken to see how the others celebrate Christmas. There is a noticeable change in Scrooge's attitude when he learns that Bob Cratchit's ill son, Tiny Tim will die. He begs the spirit, ' Oh no, kind Spirit! Say he will be spared' This does not sound like the cruel, hardhearted man that the story began with.…
A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens, is a beloved tale that people of all ages have loved for its emotional and moral appeal. It is a story focusing on the life of Ebenezer Scrooge, a greedy and cold-hearted money-lender, who is visited by four ghostly apparitions who convince him together to change his merciless ways. At the beginning of this tale, Scrooge does not recognize the effects of his greed, so the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future take it upon themselves to show him how much his greed can hurt the people around him. Needless to say, greed is the central theme of Dickens’ beloved novella, and it is revealed by the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, in order to change Scrooge’s curmudgeonly ways.
