Many people, over the past years have tried many different actions to attempt to lessen the negative health effects from working longer than ideal hours. But the most effective solutions to lessen the negative effects is addressing the issue of working long hours are changing work patterns such as consultation with staff, and having more evaluations and feedback. In the article Breaking The Long Hours Culture by J Kodz explains that working extended hours increases lack of attention towards the work and lowering self esteem. But some ways to lessen these effects is most importantly changing work patterns by consulting with staff. Kodz says that changing work patterns would include, annualised hours, revising scheduled hours, and more flexible working hours (Kodz, 12). With these effects, it would cause less stress not only on employees but on the supervisor as well. The perspective of a boss is important because it is explaining what they can do to help the employees live a healthier lifestyle while still having long hours. The best choices available addressing the issue of working long hours are changing work patterns such as consultation with staff, and having more evaluations and feedback. Another solution could be for workers to decline work hours above 40 each week, to reduce the stress on the body. Some positive outcomes that could come out of these solutions, would be less hours for the workers, more energy leading to better performance on work. As well as better physical and mental health. Some gaps in the solution of consulting with staff might be the fact that they will force the worker to work longer hours because they need the help and have a very important task.
