The beast has a big part of the story or we may say that he was the point of the story. We can see how the beast separates between two teams Jack and Ralph and how that let two boys died. In addition, many kids mention that they saw the beast but there was not any clue for that. The beast only instills the fear in the some of the boys. For example, Jack goal became to kill the beast that already is not there. the story shows that even the tiny things that also maybe they are not shown like the beast can let many problems and let many fights start. In my point of view I see that the beast role in the story to show that people may follow any one they want, they do not care about the most important things.
