Working the phone lines at the crisis center, I received a call from a 40 year old adult. They provided me with information about the crisis they are facing at this moment which includes an impending divorce mostly because the spouse was unemployed for extended periods of time, as well as concern over the ability to meet the demands of bills in addition to overwhelming job demands. Additionally, her goal of continuing education had to be put on hold. There is concern over the children’s anger towards the other parent as well as a lack of motivation with school work. In addition, the children are upset because they cannot participate in activities with their friends as before. This client is having issues doing her job both as parent and employee. Consequently, their activity level has decreased, smoking has increased, as a result they have experienced an increase in weight. Their support system is lacking as family …show more content…
If this anger is not addressed it can manifest itself in other ways, such as the lack of motivation to do school work or displaced anger towards others. Finally, having been able to assess the client, the situation and having built a rapport, I would consider addressing health issues. Beginning with increased weight gain and smoking. It would be beneficial for the client and the children to begin a regiment of exercise, this can be a s simple as walking where they can talk about issues as well as have something in common to do. Children who are offered opportunities to be of genuine help to others who need it are often most helped themselves through this opportunity (Henderson, 2007).
With the assessment information as well as the additional information I was able to obtain from the client by effectively listening and communicating I can refer them to various agencies, such as: The Salvation
