Ford Madox Ford settled in Kent, England. Here, Ford devoted his life to his writing. Also, in Kent is where Ford “met Joseph Conrad and discovered that they shared a fundamental agreement upon the role of technique in the novel. Over a period of five years the two fledgling authors collaborated in a partnership and produced two novels, The Inheritors and Romance.” (“Ford Madox Ford”) Conrad contributed a lot on Ford’s writing because Ford had a deep influence on Conrad.
