Bonhoeffer explains that costly grace calls us to follow Christ and his teachings because it cost Christ his life and in following that we are also giving up our life to Christ and following his ways. Once you follow the true and full grace that God has provided your sins and way of life changes because God is helping you become someone in His image. Without costly grace you can never be classified as a true follower of Christ only a copy of a follower that is missing parts of itself. Once they detach from their old life they start to become aware of the duties they are suppose to leave and become aware that they don 't want to leave the life they already know and are comfortable with it. I order for us to follow Christ we must be prepared to accept his faith and break away from his past. Because you are called to break away from your old life there is a barrier between you and the outside world. Jesus Christ stands between you and everything else making him the centre of your attention and making sure you are following in his teaching. Jesus Christ is the middleman between God and the disciple creating a relationship with him instead of leaving the disciple alone without anyone to communicate with him or her.
The community are made up of bodies that act, worked and preached in fellowship in the name of Jesus Christ. This can be visual in the church through the preaching of the word. Preaching in the church has always been the base of foundation in the church. The Word of God is spoken throughout the congregation bring the message to everyone moving them closer to Christ. The Lord 's Supper and baptism are another form of visual community, in partaking of communion we are receiving the body and blood of Christ becoming one with
