Malala Yousafzai Research Paper

Malala Yousafzai is a Mid-Eastern activist who fought for female and children education, and women’s rights. Malala Yousafzai was born Mingora, a small town in West Pakistan, on July 12, 1997. Her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai named her after a Pashtun heroine, Malalai. Malala attended a school that was founded by her father. Her father encouraged her to speak her mind, do what was right, and learn as much as she could. Yousafzai started off by writing an anonymous diary on life under Taliban rule in Pakistan at the age of 11. The diary was then published on “BBC Urbu” in early 2009. She went under the name of Gul Makai, but was later discovered in December. Malala continued to speak out against the rights of women: the right to an education. Malala received the International Children's Peace Prize by The KidsRights Foundation (2011) and the National Peace Award (2012) by the Pakistan government. …show more content…
Many Talibans threatened their family and claimed Yousafzai for "promoting secular education". On October 12, 2012, at the age of 14, Malala was on a bus ride home when a Taliban man boarded on with a gun and shot her on the left side of her head. Because of her serious state, Malala was immediately taken to a military hospital in Peshawar, Pakistan. A part of her skull was removed because of critical swelling in her brain; she had a few facial surgeries, but suffered no major brain damage. She then transferred to England for rehabilitation. This event was just the beginning to Yousafzai’s international
