One day Gregory was not feeling well and decided to go to the emergency room at John Hopkins hospital. It was here that he met his future wife of fifty years. Martha Janey was born on June 1, 1947 to Nancy Muriel Elizabeth Weaver Janey and William Handy Janey (whose birth certificate has the name William Robert Handy Janey). Nancy worked for the Maryland State Health Department doing research and had a part time job at a drugstore. William was a serviceman often gone serving his country.
