Upon making contact with the female she was identified as Mary Welch. As I was speaking with Mary she referred to me as Donald several times. I advised Mary I was with the Madison Township Police Department and I was here to help her. Mary appear to me to have been sitting in the ditch soaking wet, and covered in mud for sometime. I observed Mary’s walker about fifty feet to the west of where she was sitting. It appeared to me that Mary made several attempts to climb out of the ditch, by the marks left in the mud wall. I was able to get Mary out of the ditch and on her feet. Mary had several scratch marks on her legs and hands. As I got her out of the ditch Sgt. Gosnik arrived and contacted the Madison Township Fire Department to have Mary check out. …show more content…
Mary was unable to tell me where she lives, her date of birth, or where she was going. Mary did stated “we were out looking for Donald”. Mary was unable to tell me who they where, she was talking about. Mary stated Donald was her brother and he was just marry two weeks ago.
Sgt. Gosnik was able to locate Mary's son Ronald Welch. Ronald’s residence was located one street away for where Mary was found (Beechersbrook Rd). Sgt. Gosnik made contact with Ronald and advised him of the incident.
Ronald arrived on scene and advised Officers, Mary lives with his brother Donald Welch, and they live on the same street as he does. Ronald stated Mary suffers from Dementia.
The Madison Township Fire Department arrived and advised Mary was physically okay. The Fire Department transported Mary to her residence. Mary was released to Donald. Ronald and Donald stated they did not want Mary transported to the emergence
