Since citizens have access to technology like televisions, computers and cell phones, among other types of technology, society has found more sources for news. Nowadays media has expanded to many more choices for the public. There are both advantages and disadvantages with many choices. Media has become merely focused on getting ratings, making money and covering easy stories, while keeping viewers intrigued. Media is a good way for people to stay informed, however it does not always inform the total truth. Media is a source where people can look for news and stay up to date, but what some of the viewers might not know is that media uses bias to try to persuade their audience. This basic detail can make a big difference on how the report is presented. Leaving out important details can distort the story of how it really was. However, if the journalist has enough sources of where to get information to support their arguments, and cover all the basic questions, the report is going to be well supported. Not only variety of sources in the story can have an impact on the report but also loaded words have an important role on how people perceived the news. Loaded words are great words that bring along not only their meanings, but extra weight, loads of judgments, or bias that plays upon the emotions instead of helping with understanding. These words can have a harmful consequence depending of how people use them. When a journalist uses loaded words in a report, the whole story can have a remarkable change. This news channel have liberal, conservative and independent news reporter to give its viewers all sides. In fact, Fox News considers themselves as the “truth seekers” since several liberal reporters that worked in a conservative news channel, now works at Fox News. These reporters express their feelings towards the other mainstream media. The socially liberal side emphasizes the importance of balancing individual liberty and social justice. Libertarians have no problem accepting those who the conservative side might see as different. For instance, the liberal side support gay marriage because they believe marriage is the union of two people that love each other. This side believes that every individual has the right to marry. On the other hand, Fox News is fiscally conservative and believe the government should resolve the problems in order to have peace and equality in this country. In addition, they emphasize the idea that it is the government’s responsibility to make sure that the citizens are not in need. For example, if the United States’s economy declines, reporters would insinuate that this is because the government is not regulating the economy and not preventing the greedy business from taking advantage of the citizens.
