Science and biology have always been my favorite subjects throughout school. I always knew that I wanted to go into the medical field, but I was unsure of what exactly I wanted to do. However, when I took microbiology in high school my teacher inspired me to work in labs. I then took a course called Clinical Health Science, which pointed me in the direction of becoming a medical laboratory technician.
Qualifications
In order for someone to become a medical laboratory technician, a bachelor’s degree in medical technology or life sciences is usually required. However, students who major in other sciences and meet the program’s prerequisites may apply. Generally, medical laboratory technician must obtain a license in order to practice. This usually requires the student to take an accredited education program to qualify for taking an exam that will certify them for a license. After additional education, work experience, or certification, medical laboratory technicians may specialize themselves in any area of laboratory science, such as immunology or clinical chemistry.
Job Responsibilities
