At times it was a challenge, I drove long distances, from state to state, from rural areas of the north and south to large metropolitan areas in the mid-west, but it was always worth the effort. I had incredible opportunities across the country to interact with patients of different backgrounds and cultures. I loved the challenge of not only helping them medically with my diagnosis, but also listening to their background and how it shaped their medical history. My patients were unique and provided me with a constant reminder of why I dreamt of becoming a doctor throughout my childhood. Whether it was a teenager with a rare diagnosis of Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, or an elderly jazz musician with chronic renal failure, I found huge satisfaction in working with a myriad of medical difficulties. By dealing with such a variety of medical conditions across the country, it compounded my ethos to provide the best possible care for my patients in family
