Lennie was a big threat to people and animals. When he was little his aunt Clara would give him mice to pet, but then he would pet them too hard and break their backs or crush their heads by accident. Finally his aunt Clara had enough of Lennie killing the mice so she gave him fake mice, but he didn't like those so he started petting dead mice that he had found. He also killed a puppy. One day he was playing with a little puppy…
The human issues come up in the first chapter of the book because when George tells the story about getting run out of the weed because Lennie does not understand right from wrong so he don’t understood also accused of attempting rape when really he just wanted to touch the girl’s dress because he thought it was so pretty but instead of listening to his explanation and being given a fair trial a lynch mob forms to capture Lennie. John Steinbeck 's Of Mice and Men In the novel, Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck establishes an evident contrast between the individual men who work on the ranch and lead solitary lives, and the two main characters, George and Lennie, who function as a family unit and share a common dream. Steinbeck effectively develops the theme of loneliness and alienation through the use of other characters as representations of minorities. The theme is used as motivation for many of the character’s actions. This leads up to the novels ironic resolution that may be viewed as a suggestion of Steinbeck’s philosophy about life and living.…

He tells you, your dog has a very strong cancer and will be able to make it a couple of suffering months. Would you put him down to end the suffering? In the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, there was something similar. George is one of the main characters with a brotherly like friend named Lennie and he was as dumb as a doornail.…
Characters who had disorders in them in the 1930’s were very sad people, in the sense that they were born before their time. Nowadays, people like this get the extra help they need and deserve. But this hasn’t always been the case. Over fifty years ago, these same people were getting shipped to asylums. Steinbeck was from this time period, and saw the cruelty these people had, and how helpless the doctors were when diagnosing a cure.…

The definition of mental illness is as follows: “A condition which causes serious disorder in a person’s behavior or thinking” (Oxford Dictionary). Within John Steinbeck’s famous story, Of Mice and Men, the character Lennie suffers from a mental disability, which ultimately leads to his death. In a similar way, millions of people suffer from a form of mental illness, and are often are not treated for their disorders, which frequently ends in a form of tragedy for the individual. Often, those around them are uninformed on the subject and they either become bystanders to the individual’s downfall, or treat the person as an ill-mannered idiot. Within some countries, such as the United States of America, the nation’s leaders are trying to bring their societies out of these “dark ages,” and give the current and following generations the education they require on this subject.…
