She uses simple language and simple theory, and I enjoy that she is talking about the topic in regards to 1. the important of black female autobiographical educational studies and 2. the intimate, necessary relationship that black women have historically had with autobiography. I also think this is a good choice, because she talks about her personal experience writing an autobiography, providing a more intimate perspective than is usually found in critical/scholarly pieces. She does a really good job at looking at many different aspects of the subject, including black female anger, the importance of self expression, the power of the audience's ability/inclination to accept the speaker. These are all concepted that I also noted within Solange’s album, so I believe this work can really provide an analytical perspective on the themes from my primary source. Moreover, she provides a good deal of history in regards to the past forms that black female autobiography and new forms it can take, which I think is relevant to my topic seeing as I am analysing the way that a musical album can seriously be considered autobiography even though most people only consider autobiography to be found in traditional, very specifically structured
