In 1982, Jackson released his next solo album, “Thriller”. This album, to date is his most famous album. It became the best-selling album in history. Michael seemed to be on a high streak, that just kept going up. It seemed as if he had the whole world, but that was not enough for him. “Though he was fabulously wealthy and adored by the world, Michael Jackson set daunting standards for himself” (Nelson). Millions of people across the world mourned Michael Jackson’s death. Mr. Jackson changed the way American music was portrayed. America went from listening to smooth jazz, to listening to funky pop music, and Michael was the reason for it. He helped the American Music Industry make millions by releasing the most famous album ever to be released, “Thriller”. More than 1 million people attended Michael Jackson’s memorial service in Los Angeles (Hollander). The Jackson name has, and will remain one of the top names in the music industry.
Five years after Jackson’s death, Michael Jackson Inc. has had some of its best years, taking in $700 million since his overdose-- more money than any other musician, dead or alive, has made over their lifetime (Hune-Brown). Michael not only changed the type of music people listened to, but allowed people to truly show their true colors. To this day, his music is still listened too, and his legacy will live on
