The Middle Ages (1066-1485) was a huge part in American Literature, many High School textbook contains the majority of epic poems that were written in that time. The Middle Ages was also known as the “Dark Ages”. The era was faced with multiple issues like all of the plagues that they faced. The Middle Ages was known for the horrific Black Death which killed so many families and cities. Most stories that are from The Middle Ages include the stories of the Black Death or the reasons of why it’s called The Dark Ages.
Geoffrey Chaucer (1343-1400) is called the father of English poetry. Not a lot of research has been done over Chaucer but what research has been done, he has made a pretty accomplishing life. He was born in London in the 1340s.

The Black Death has took over the whole town and not many survivors are left. There is a church in Santa Maria Novella that contains a group of seven women that got together to talk about their poor and sad life and how they barely have nothing left in the town. Out of the seven women, the oldest decide that they need to escape this town infested with the Black Death. Although the seven ladies are confident that they could make it out of the town, they were very hesitant of traveling alone. Yes, they have each other, but they would appreciate that help of a man or more. Fortunate enough, they are eventually joined by three younger men that tackle on the journey of escaping the Black Death infested town. They do not end up traveling far to have to escape the town, they only travel two miles and arrive at this palace where they are invited to stay. The group soon realizes that they will get extremely bored, so they decide to start telling stories everyday. To be more organized, they picked a “Queen and King” to tell a certain story that has a certain theme. Each day, they chose a new King and Queen that changes the theme and makes arrangement for entertainment and their meals. Eventually after telling hundreds and hundreds of stories they soon head back to their hometown to face their fate. No more was mentioned as far as what was
