Robert cormier not only uses foreshadowing using scenes or quotes he also uses characters. In the novel the author mentions that Lulu is calling Denny’s house which creates suspense. The author also creates suspense and foreshadowing in the prologue when Dave says “ And ten minutes later Lulu was dead.” He has a suspenseful ending when Denny jumps into the car and Dave is diving Luu is in the back yelling for him to drive.
