Communication with residents has enabled me to strengthen my listening skills and has provided me with the ability to communicate with those who have communication difficulties. Not only has this improved my patience, but it has also provided me with the opportunity to demonstrate my caring and compassionate attitude towards the residents. Working at the residential home means I am often dealing with vulnerable people, as I would be on a labour ward. This can be accredited to the fact that I have based my coursework on a Midwife. This has allowed me to look at all aspects of midwifery and enhanced my passion for the course. I have not only looked at the role that a midwife plays but I have also looked at how a Midwife implements care skills in everyday work. I have looked at aspects of midwifery that people do not tend to think about, investigating anti discriminatory practice in midwifery and also looking at safeguarding.
